Boosting Cotton Yields: Expert Training on Dada Lad Production and Pest Management
On the occasion of World Soil Day, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sagroli organized a one-day training program on December 6th, 2024, under the Cropsap Project for extension officers from the Department of Agriculture. The program focused on Dada Lad cotton production technology and integrated pest and disease management for rabi crops.
Dr. Krishna Ambhure led a technical session on Dada Lad cotton production, emphasizing pink bollworm management and the negative effects of ratoon cotton. He stressed the importance of removing cotton crops by the end of December to prevent pest proliferation. He also provided guidance on managing pests and diseases in crops like Bengal gram, sorghum, safflower, and tur.
In the field of soil health management, Prof. Venkat Shinde highlighted the importance of adopting practices such as natural and organic farming, while reducing reliance on chemical fertilizers and pesticides. During the field visit, Prabhudas Udtewar demonstrated techniques like proper spacing, pruning, and topping to improve cotton production. The session aimed to equip extension officers with knowledge to promote sustainable practices, enhance pest management, and increase crop productivity.
